A choir of 4900 children including our choir of 28 performed a range of songs including a Wicked medley and a pop medley. It was an amazing show and we are so proud of the children.

Well done to everyone who took part! The team will be competing in the next round at Brentford's training ground which will be a great experience.

The girls finished top of their group and qualified for the semi-final where they beat Newnham on penalties. In the final, the girls were beaten by Deansfield. We are so proud of them and their achievement.

Representing Team Hillingdon, both teams performed amazingly coming away with bronze medals and 3rd place finishes in London. A truly amazing achievement from all who took part!

They sang along with 4900 other children songs including a Marley Medley celebrating the songs of Bob Marley and a medley of songs from the musical 'Hairspray'. It was a truly memorable event.

Winning muiltiple races and performing excellently in the field, the team were crowned champions and will now represent Hillingdon in the London Youth Games finals in March.

The award has been running since 1980 and is given to a school or group for their contribution to the community. We are very proud to receive this award.

The children played a variety of roles including Zeus and Hades and performed the show to their parents and school community. It was an amazing show and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. 

]]> Tue, 23 Jul 2024 11:07:36 GMT https://www.ladybankes.school/news/?pid=8&nid=1&storyid=13 <![CDATA[ Young Voices 2024 ]]> https://www.ladybankes.school/news/?pid=8&nid=1&storyid=3 On Thursday 1st February we took 32 children to Wembley Arena to take part in a Young Voices concert.  The children had been learning all the songs since they started back at school last September.  On the day we took the train from Ruislip Manor to Wembley Park and made our way to Zizzi for our lunch.  The children were very excited however they were very well behaved in the restaurant.  After lunch we made our way to the Arena and found our seats.  Rehearsals began at 2pm and we practised we the very talented conductor David Lawrence all afternoon.  The doors opened at 6pm and the parents started arriving for the concert which started at 7pm.  Everything went to plan and it was a very magical atmosphere.  The children, staff and all our parents watching had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

They learned all about Captain Scott and his expeditions. This term, Year 1 are studying the key question, 'What makes a great polar explorer?' and this workshop has really supported this learning.

The children learned about the air defence system and about the roles that were played by the women in the WAAF (Women's Auxillary Air Force) during the war.

Competing in a range of events including relays, triple jump and javelin the team scored the highest number of points across the 18 teams who competed. Well done to everyone who took part and who will now represent Team Hillingdon in the West London finals in February.

Everyone looked amazing in their costumes, ranging from princess's, wizards, hungry caterpillars there was a fantastic assortment of characters as you can see in the pictures.

]]> Sat, 15 Jun 2024 22:35:53 GMT https://www.ladybankes.school/news/?pid=8&nid=1&storyid=10 <![CDATA[ Young Voices 2023 ]]> https://www.ladybankes.school/news/?pid=8&nid=1&storyid=11 On Monday 6th February the choir once again took part in the Young Voices concert at Wembley Arena.  They had been busy rehearsing since last October practising a selection of songs and medleys.  On the day we travelled by train to Wembley, we had lunch at the Global Buffet restaurant which the children thoroughly enjoyed!  We then arrived at the arena in time for the afternoon rehearsal.  The children were really excited and it was a fantastic experience.  For the evening show parents came and watched and joined in with the dancing from Urban Strides, also performing were the Beat Box Collective, violinist Anna Phoebe and the very talented Heather Small with whom the children sang her famous song "Proud".
